OVERVIEW

The course provides anatomical and functional elements of the stomatognathic system, diagnostic principles and therapeutic strategies for temporomandibular joint pathologies. Furthermore, the pathophysiology and diagnostic classifications of cranio-cervical-facial pain will be explored in depth. In the second part of the course they will learn dental and multidisciplinary therapeutic principles and how to apply them to patients. The course also includes the discussion of principles of oral pathophysiology, etiology and classification of dysfunctions. Comorbidity relationships with mood disorders are also examined

LEARNING OUTCOMES

Students will learn how to carry out a gnathological examination, formulate a diagnostic hypothesis and prescribe any instrumental diagnostics.

ASSESSMENT METHODS

Details regarding exam preparation methods and the level of depth for each topic will be provided during the lectures.
The student will also be required to demonstrate the ability to describe a treatment plan clearly and using correct terminology.
