OVERVIEW

The integrated course of Integrated Pathophysiology of the neuromotor apparatus includes the study of the following modules:

  • Diseases of the locomotor system
  • Neurology
  • Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine
  • Rheumatology

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The study of locomotor diseases is an important step in the cultural preparation of the professional of Motor Sciences, with specific reference to the main moments of the individual’s life: the evolutionary age; the juvenile, adult and senescence age, with motor problems related. The main pathologies of a general nature (arthrosis, osteoporosis) and district (spinal cord, joint diseases of the lower and upper limb) are analyzed. The module of Neurology addresses diseases of the neurological sphere, providing propedeutic notions to the Pathophysiology of neurological diseases, in reference to the various stages of youth-adulthood (Parkinson’s, demyelinating diseases, dementia, cerebral vascular diseases, diatonic diseases, diseases of the 1st and 2nd motor neuron). The teaching module of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine is the necessary corollary of the first two modules; knowledge of the processes of rehabilitation of major diseases of the locomotor system and the central and peripheral nervous system is acquired in it, The Institute is a partner of the European Commission in Dublin, Ireland. The teaching module of Rheumatology explores the main diseases of the rheumatological field, with particular reference to the disabl-motor aspects that they cause.

TEACHING METHODS

Any Student with documented Specific Learning Disorders (SLD), or with any special needs, should contact the Lecturer(s) and to the dedicated SLD Representative in the Department before class begins, in order to liaise and arrange the specific teaching methods so that the learning aims and outcomes may be met.
