The History of International Relations seminar aims to examine in depth some of the themes, protagonists and turning points that characterised the 20th century and that have been dealt with briefly within the History of International Relations course.
The seminar envisages the participation of scholars and lecturers from other Italian universities, who will deal in depth with the chosen theme.
For the academic year 2025-2026 the seminar of HIstory of International Relations will be represented by the Conference: "Visions of Europe in the Resistance", which will take place in Genova on 9-10 October 2025.
The seminar aims at providing the students an adequate knowledge, from the methodological and cultural point of view, of the main turning points of the the international system in the XX century
At the end of the seminar, students will be expected to:
- understand the role played by dipomatic documents in describing the main turning points of the XX century;
- apply the knowledge acquired to current events, that is, analyse current international dynamics using the tools provided by the teaching as a key to understanding them;
- develop a critical judgement of the international dynamics of the 20th century and be able to critically analyse its role in the current international system;
- increase their communication skills, both in written form (paper to be presented at the end of the seminar) and in oral form using appropriate vocabulary (through class discussions)
- develop one's learning skills through class discussion and the study of suggested reference texts;
Teaching contributes to the pursuit of the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN 2030 Agenda.

In order to obtain the 2 CFUs students MUST
1. ALSO attend the entire seminar, during which attendance will be recorded;

Assessment of the written test: knowledge of the main themes and historical facts covered in the seminar are the main elements of assessment. These are complemented by the ability to synthesise information and clarity in the exposition of content. Requests for additional questions to increase the grade will not be accepted.
Students with “Special Needs”: the compensatory/dispensative tools recognized by the Department coordinator, Prof. Aristide Canepa, and by the University Service for students with special needs are applied.
