The processing and analysis of data make it possible to transform raw data into useful information for identifying and monitoring tourism trends, making strategic decisions, solving problems, and structuring the offer in such a way as to effectively meet the needs of an increasingly variable and demanding tourism demand.
The activity aims to provide some basic tools for understanding the territorial implications of the tourism phenomenon through the analysis of the main databases at the local, national and international levels.
At the end of the course, students will be able to:
retrieve tourism data from various national and international organizations;
critically analyze and synthesize national and international tourism data, both official and unofficial;
argue and describe (in written and oral form) the tourism phenomenon from both a quantitative and qualitative perspective

The lessons will be structured in short theoretical sessions (lectures) aimed at acquiring the necessary knowledge to retrieve, process, and analyze the main data on tourism flows at both national and international levels.
Attending students will have the opportunity to carry out individual and group work, which they will develop and present in class and which will form an integral part of the final examination.

Qualitative and quantitative data collection methodologies
Drafting reports on tourism demand and supply
During the course, the professor will provide guidance on the texts and materials to be used, differentiating them for attending and non-attending students.

On second semester.
For attending students who complete and present individual and/or group projects during the lessons, the exam is considered passed without the need for further tests.
For non-attending students, the exam consists of an oral test on the theoretical part and the preparation of a written report on a topic that must be agreed upon in advance with the professor.
It is also reminded that attending at least 50% of the classes allows students to take the oral exam based on the attending students' syllabus.

Subsequently, well in advance (at least 10 days) with respect to the exam date, it is necessary to send an e-mail to the teacher with whom the exam will be taken, inserting in a copy of knowledge both the teacher in charge of the School for the inclusion of students with disabilities and SLD (laura.traverso@unige.it) and the Sector indicated above using one of the following addresses (disabili@unige.it; dsa@unige.it). In the e-mail, you must specify:
· The name of the course
· The date of the exam
· the student's surname, first name and matriculation number
· the required compensatory instruments and dispensation measures
The contact person (Prof. Laura Traverso) will confirm to the teacher that the applicant has the right to request adaptations during the exam and that these adaptations must be agreed with the teacher. The teacher will answer by communicating if it is possible to use the required adaptations.
Requests must be sent at least 10 days before the date of the exam in order to allow the teacher to evaluate the content. In particular, in the event that you intend to use concept maps for the exam (which must be much more synthetic than the maps used for the study), if the submission does not meet the deadlines, there will not be the technical time necessary to make any changes, which may be requested by the teacher.
