25/09/2025 Introduced on the wave of the recognition of the Italian Sign Language (LIS) and the Tactile LIS (LISt) by the Italian State, this course aims to bring those who will participate closer to the world of LIS and LISt; a world in which communication passes through a different channel from the one we usually associate with (spoken) languages: the visual/tactile/textual channel. The course will be spread over two semesters (1st semester: basic level; 2nd semester: intermediate level), for a duration of 80 hourstotal, which will entitle the student to 6 CFUs* as "Other activities". It is not, however, necessary to attend the lectures of both semesters: for 3 CFUs* it is only possible to attend the lectures of the first semester (40 hours). Likewise, those who have already successfully completed the basic level as part of one of the previous courses or who are able to demonstrate that they possess the necessary prior knowledge may only attend the lectures of the second semester for the same number of hours and CFU* (it is in this part of the course that one will become familiar with the world of deafblindness and, therefore, the LISt and haptic). . The lectures will alternate between two lecturers and will ideally take place according to the following schedule: Tuesday 2pm-4pm (Classroom E, DLCM's Teaching Pole) and Thursday 2pm-4pm (classroom to be defined). In addition to the regular lessons, two meetings will be held with the renowned expert Nicola Della Maggiora - one of the leading experts in Visual Vernacular and performer of Sanremo LIS and the Eurovision Song Contest -, during which the lecturer will explain to the students what exactly the profession of a performer consists of and will play with them some of the pieces that have made him or her famous. The final timetable, with all the necessary information, will be announced shortly before the start of the lessons (scheduled for around mid-October). Active participation in the course is strongly recommended, under penalty of non-admission to the final exam (one per semester). The places availableare 60 for each semester. To enrol, please click here (please note: only enrolments from DLCM, DAFIST and DIRAAS will be accepted; please complete the enrolment form carefully, following the examples provided). As soon as the maximum number of enrolments has been reached, the confirmation e-mails will be sent (to the University e-mail address indicated on the enrolment form, which you are invited to check regularly in order to smoothly complete all the necessary paperwork) and, on this occasion, the final details will be announced (start of the lectures, timetable of lectures with indication of individual lecturers, etc.). In view of the high number of enrolments that are usually recorded and some unpleasant precedents, we reserve the right to verify the actual possibility for those enrolled to attend the course. For any doubts regarding the compilation of study plans, please contact the relevant secretariat directly.* The course is open to students of the DLCM, DAFIST and DIRAAS, but the 3 CFUs (for each individual module; 6 CFUs in total)will be recognised exclusively for the DLCM degree courses. As for DAFIST and DIRAAS, the Boards of Philosophy, Humanities, History, Modern and Performing Literature, Philosophical Methodologies and Historical Sciences will recognise 2 CFUs for a single module; it will therefore be possible to attend lectures in both semesters, but only 2 CFUs at most will be recognised. The other courses at DAFIST and DIRAAS do not recognise CFUs, but this does not preclude attendance of the course.
