ABS honours marine and nautical engineering students at UniGe

Also for the academic years 2024-2025 and 2025-2026, the ABS - American Bureau of Shipping classification registry, in collaboration with UniGe, has awarded four study prizes to particularly deserving male and female students in the courses of:

  • ship engineering (three-year and master's degree)
  • nautical engineering (three-year and master's degree course based in La Spezia)

from the Scuola Politecnica dell'Università di Genova.

ABS is one of the leading international bodies in the field of ship classification and services for the shipping and offshore industry. The company works in the development of safety standards, advanced technologies and digital solutions to improve performance and operational efficiency.

The awards ceremony took place Friday 24 April in Villa Cambiaso, in the boardroom of the President's Office of the UniGe Polytechnic School.

During the event there were also a number of technical talks by representatives of ABS:

  • "From Studies at UNIGE to Industry Practice: A Journey at ABS" - Pier Carazzai
  • "ABS in the Global Maritime Industry: Performance and Strategic Outlook" - Diego Beltratti
  • "Design, Classification and Safety of LNG Carriers: Insights from ABS" - Nicola Verrina
  • "Careers at ABS: Opportunities, Roles and Professional Growth" - Amna Lodhi

AA 2024-2025

  • Enrico Verdiani - Three-year naval engineering
  • Gianluca Canepone - Master naval engineering
  • Marco Serra - Three-year nautical engineering
  • Bianca Carloni - Master Nautical Engineering - yacht design

Year 2025-2026

  • Giorgio Perego - Master's Marine Engineering
  • Federico Canepa - Master Naval Engineering
  • Giovanni Sciaccaluga - Three-year nautical engineering
  • Giorgia Fumagalli - Master Nautical Engineering - yacht design
