OVERVIEW

The course integrates the contents of the Mobile Programming and Web Design and Development modules, providing students with theoretical and practical skills for designing and implementing modern mobile and web applications.

The first part introduces mobile application development for the Android platform, with particular attention to the programming model, graphical user interface development, event-driven programming, and the use of dedicated development tools. The second part covers the fundamental concepts of web application design and development, focusing on both client-side and server-side technologies, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python, and the Django framework.

The course includes lectures, practical exercises, and project-based activities aimed at developing complete and functional applications.

AIMS AND CONTENT

PREREQUISITES

Basic programming knowledge is required, with particular reference to object-oriented programming. Knowledge of the Java and Python programming languages, operating systems, relational databases, and SQL is also useful.

Students who hold valid certificates relating to Specific Learning Difficulties (SLD), disabilities or other educational needs are invited to contact the lecturer and the school’s disability liaison officer at the start of the course to agree on any teaching arrangements which, whilst respecting the course objectives, take into account individual learning styles.

EXAMS

EXAM DESCRIPTION

The exam consists of the assessment of the skills acquired in the two modules composing the course. The assessment may include an oral and/or practical examination, as well as the design, implementation, and discussion of one or more application projects related to mobile and web application development.

Students with certification of Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD), disabilities, or other special educational needs must contact the instructor at the beginning of the course to agree on teaching and examination methods that, while respecting the course objectives, take into account individual learning styles and provide appropriate compensatory tools. It is reminded that the request for compensatory/dispensatory measures for exams must be sent to the course instructor, the School representative, and the “Settore servizi per l'inclusione degli studenti con disabilità e con DSA” office (dsa@unige.it) at least 10 working days before the test, as per the guidelines available at the link: https://unige.it/disabilita-dsa

ASSESSMENT METHODS

The assessment aims to verify the student’s ability to apply the knowledge acquired in the two areas of the course in an integrated way. In particular, the assessment will evaluate the understanding of development models for mobile and web applications, the ability to design and implement user interfaces and application components, the correct use of the tools and frameworks presented during the course, and the ability to critically discuss the design and implementation choices adopted.

FURTHER INFORMATION

Students with valid certifications for Specific Learning Disorders (SLD) may request accommodations for exams at least 7 days prior to the exam date by filling out the “accommodation request form” (available via online services at https://modulionline.unige.it/richiesta-adattamenti# no-back), which will be automatically forwarded by the system to the instructor in charge of the course and to the faculty liaison for students with disabilities and SLDs in their School/Department.
