Students will develop skills in creating effective user-centered web pages, compliant to standards and following recent trends, based on the analysis of users’ needs, information architecture, usability and accessibility criteria, and functionalities. AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES The course aims to provide students with operational and design skills in responsive web design and content management system (CMS) administration. Upon completion of the course, students will be able to: Apply principles and methodologies of responsive web design to ensure optimal content usability across mobile and desktop devices; Design and develop web prototypes using responsive development environments such as Bootstrap, managing grids, components, and adaptive layouts; Understand the functioning of major content management systems (CMS) and perform installation, configuration, and management tasks for publishing dynamic websites; Customize the visual and functional aspects of a CMS through the use of themes, plugins, modules, and basic code customizations; Integrate responsive design principles within CMS platforms, ensuring consistency between prototyping, development, and content publication. AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES Web technologies are pushing rapid changes in software solutions, also reflecting on society and humans' behaviours. The objective ot the course is making students aware of Web design issues. Learning outcomes will be the following: Understanding the role of technology in the evolution of Web design; Knowing basics of HTML and CSS; Understanding structures and concepts of layout design; Using patterns; Understanding development frameworks; Developing prototypes. PREREQUISITES Basics in Computer Science. Basic on Web design (i.e., Web Design 1 course) TEACHING METHODS Active lectures and hands-on labs. Classes are also held synchronously, remotely, via the Teams platform. ASSESSMENT METHODS The project work aims to proving that the students have acquired Web design capabilities and skills in using relevant tools and technology.
