AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES The course aims to provide the basic principles of experimental physics by tackling the three main aspects in an intuitive manner: design of an experiment or measurement, data analysis and presentation of the results, also with the use of computer tools. in addition to lectures, laboratory exercises are carried out in order to familiarise students with the use of instruments and to analyse and present the collected data. PREREQUISITES Basic knowledge of mathematics TEACHING METHODS Classroom lectures and simple laboratory experiments SYLLABUS/CONTENT - presentation of the structure of a complex experiment - characteristics of sensors - definition of error - error propagation - introduction to statistical data analysis - elements of programming (Matlab software) for data analysis - interpolation and extrapolation - fitting methods - introduction to harmonic analysis - hints on digital electronics RECOMMENDED READING/BIBLIOGRAPHY Lecture notes and more material collected in AulaWeb TEACHERS AND EXAM BOARD CORRADO BORAGNO Ricevimento: Reception hours are free by phone or email appointment.
