OVERVIEW

This course teaches the theoretical basis of motor activity and offers ideas for methodology and teaching methods which can be useful for a first orientation in the diverse fields of professional intervention. General problems will be presented alternating theoretical moments to practical exercises, in order to be of reference for future courses during the course of study.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The educational objective is to provide the basic knowledge related to the theoretical and methodological approach to motor activities.

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

Acquisition of basic skills related to the methods and techniques of motor activity. Understanding of physiological and biomechanical processes at the base of the motor skill learning facilities. Knowledge of the principles of skilled human performance.

At the end of the course, you will have to:

  • Know the principles of motor performance, the nomenclature relating to movement and the skills characterizing the motor task
  • Apply the principles of skilful human performance
  • Critically evaluate the motor patterns of the subjects under examination
  • Compare different ways of motor learning
  • Classifying the motor skills that characterize a motor task
  • Build / design motor intervention strategies
  • Describe analytically the methodologies used for the different age groups
  • Explain methods of intervention and motor programs underlying the teaching methodology

TEACHING METHODS

The course includes frontal lessons carried out in the classroom.

Notions seen in the classroom will be resumed and the practical applications of these topics will be addressed in the ATP teaching.

At the end of each lesson, Educational Innovation tools will be used to facilitate the consolidation of the information given during the lesson just completed.

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

Introduction to motor performance: The movement, postures and movement patterns. Coordination and conditional skills. Motor skills and learning stages. Individual differences and motor abilities.

Principles of skilled human performance: Information processing and decision making. Memory and memorisation process of motor acts. Contribution of sensory and sensitive systems to the skilled performance.

Educational applications of the discussed theoretical elements: Analysis of contexts and fields of action Identification and selection of intervention strategies. Testing of some of the possible methods of motor learning. Action methodologies for different age groups. Observation skills and skills in technical analysis of movements, gestures, actions. Purpose and effectiveness of the movement.

EXAMS

EXAM DESCRIPTION

The exam will be Written: multiple choice quiz.

This teaching is part of the integrated course of " Methods and teaching of motor and sports activities ". For this reason, the exam for this teaching module will be integrated with the other teaching modules belonging to the integrated course.

The quiz will consist of 30 multiple choice questions; each correct question will be worth 1 point out of 30 while each incorrect question will correspond to 0 points out of 30.

The test will last 40 minutes.

Each quiz will be considered passed with a score of 18/30.

The final grade of the integrated course will derive from the weighted average of the three individual grades.

In case of certification of specific learning disability, disability or other special educational needs, the University legislation and regulations on disability and SLD are applied (https://unige.it/disabilita-dsa/studenti-disabilit%C3% A0-normative).

See also the "Other information" section of this syllabus.

ASSESSMENT METHODS

The written exam will verify the acquisition of the basic knowledge of the teaching. The questions will allow to evaluate the ability to apply the acquired knowledge in theoretical field. You will have to be able to connect and integrate the knowledge learned during the lessons with the knowledge acquired during individual study. The written exam (multiple choice quiz) will mainly focus on the topics covered during theoretical lessons and will aim to evaluate not only the achievement of an adequate level of basic knowledge, but also the acquisition of the ability to analyse critically the questions that will be asked during the exam.

FURTHER INFORMATION

In case of certification of specific learning disability, disability or other special educational needs, please contact both the School contact person, Prof. Nicola Girtler, and the lecturer at the beginning of the lectures to agree on teaching and exam methods which, in compliance of the teaching objectives, take into account individual learning methods and provide suitable compensatory/dispensatory tools recognized by the University SLD Student Service.
