E ADATTATA 11889 (LM-67 R) - GENOVA SCIENTIFIC DISCIPLINARY SECTOR MEDS-19/A LANGUAGE Italian TEACHING LOCATION GENOVA SEMESTER 2° Semester MODULES Questo insegnamento è un modulo di: PHYSICAL ACTIVITY FOR HEALTH AND PREVENTION IN DEVELOPMENTAL AGE TEACHING MATERIALS AULAWEB OVERVIEW A broad overview of the main diseases of developmental age is necessary for a complete education of the master's student, allowing him/her to engage practically in his/her professional activity, starting with the main congenital diseases, then moving on to those present from birth, and finally those of adolescence, especially those affecting the spine. AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES The teaching aims to achieve the educational goals of: deepening the knowledge of the main orthopedic pathological conditions of growth; classifying the issues both in terms of etiology (congenital, perinatal, and acquired diseases) and in terms of age (early childhood, late childhood, adolescence). AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES Outline, for the main congenital, innate, and acquired diseases of childhood, a clinical profile suitable for the professional profile of a master's graduate in Motor Sciences, with a specific focus on the functional aspects of the possible aftereffects of these diseases, which may affect proper motor and functional development as the child grows. PREREQUISITES The knowledge held by the student was at least partially acquired during their bachelor's degree, at least in its general framework. Therefore, this knowledge will be recalled and then deepened according to the specific objectives of this subject in the master's program. TEACHING METHODS Face-to-face presentation lessons and constant discussion during them, with exchanging information, clarifications, summaries, etc. SYLLABUS/CONTENT Overview of the subject Notes on motor development and main skeletal growth stages Congenital conditions (causes, clubfoot, hip dysplasia) Perinatal conditions (birth trauma, neurological injuries from birth) Acquired conditions (problems of the spine in the frontal and sagittal planes, general and localized osteochondroses, hip, knee, and foot conditions) Notes on trauma in childhood. Notes on braces and supports for the trunk and joints. RECOMMENDED READING/BIBLIOGRAPHY Handout: Pathologies of the Locomotor System in Developmental Age - Luigi Molfetta - Pacini Publisher, which basically describes in a narrative way what is shown in the slides to make learning easier. This course is part of the integrated course 'Physical Activity for Health and Prevention in Developmental Age.' The quiz will consist of 15 multiple-choice questions and will last 20 minutes. Each correct answer will be worth 2 points out of 30, while each wrong answer will score 0 points out of 30. The quiz will be considered passed with a score of 18/30. The final grade of the integrated course will be derived from the weighted average of the grades obtained in the different modules that are part of the integrated course.
