AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The teaching aims to deepen the methodological path of physical activities during senescence, correlating them with the state of fragility of elderly subjects, their remaining motor skills, and their cognitive and learning abilities.

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

The aim of the teaching will be to provide students with theoretical and technical-operational knowledge of basic physical activity to maintain the autonomy of the elderly, including through sports. The latter is understood as any physical activity that, through organized or non-organized participation, aims to improve physical and mental health, develop social relationships, and improve quality of life.

Teaching should equip students with the ability to plan an individual and group work protocol, both in the gym and in the natural environment, taking into account the psychomotor, social, environmental, and relational aspects of age itself, and to promote motor activity as a primary element in preventing and maintaining health and independence.

At the end of teaching, you will be able to:

- understand the theories of aging, the social aspects related to the practice of motor activity in old age, and national and international guidelines regarding the application of physical activity programs adapted to old age;

- evaluate and describe the elderly person's motor condition in order to propose interventions aimed at participating in adapted physical activity programs;

- design sustainable and training periods for older adults.

TEACHING METHODS

Teaching consists of lectures. Attendance at classes is compulsory, as per the Teaching Regulations.

Any Student with documented Specific Learning Disorders (SLD), or with any special needs, should contact the Lecturer(s) and to the dedicated SLD Representative in the Department before class begins, in order to liaise and arrange the specific teaching methods so that the learning aims and outcomes may be met.
