OVERVIEW

The course provides information dealing the epidemiology of sport-related diseases. Information and applicative elements are provided dealing diet in sportsmen and advance molecular methods to evaluate sport attitude. 

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The aim of the course is to deepen the knowledge of the epidemiology of sports-related diseases as well as the knowledge of statistical incidence data that contribute to improving theoretical and practical performance in sports activities.

  • Epidemiology of most common diseases in sportsmen;
  • Individual and environmental risk factor of sport relat4ed diseases;
  • Application of food intervention as related to the different stages of training;
  • Advance molecular methods to evaluate sport performance: knowledge of advantages and limits.

TEACHING METHODS

Frontal lessons.

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

Descriptive and analytic epidemiology of trauma diseases in the sportsmen.

Tendons disease in sportsmen: epidemiology and prevention.

Respiratory diseases in sportsmen: epidemiology and prevention.

Food nutrition in sportsmen.

Molecular biomarkers as applied to the analysis of sports: genomic and postgenomic biomarkers.

Molecular genomics in sportsmen: genetics of individual attitude to sports.
