OVERVIEW

The module 'Psychology of development and education' is part of the integrated course 'Psychological sciences in sport'.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The goal of teaching is to provide the knowledge for understanding the psychological processes that characterize the dynamics of growth and the dynamics of groups in relation to physical and sports activities.

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

The course aims to propose a theoretical framework on the main perspectives in the field of human development, the fundamental stages of development along developmental age with particular reference to typical and atypical development, risk and protective factors that can promote, or on the contrary, negatively influence development, in all its areas (motor, linguistic, social, cognitive...) referring to the environment within which the minor is placed (family, school, community). 

PREREQUISITES

The notions of general psychology acquired in the first year.

TEACHING METHODS

Lectures with slide projection and films.

Group discussions on some topics proposed in the programme.

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

The main stages of development throughout developmental age will be illustrated, with particular reference to motor, perceptual, cognitive, linguistic and social skills. A particular focus will be on the concept of perceived self-efficacy and the role it plays in sports practice (individual and group).

EXAMS

EXAM DESCRIPTION

Oral exam: knowledge will be assessed through an interview.

The vote shall be taken in thirtieths.

Voting is based on knowledge of the program, accuracy in exposure, and the ability to critically process the knowledge acquired.

ASSESSMENT METHODS

At the end of the course, students must demonstrate that they have learned the topics covered. Specifically, they must demonstrate their ability to distinguish the aspects characterizing the different theoretical approaches to developmental psychology; and their ability to communicate the information they have learned with lexical properties and mastery of the discipline.
