OVERVIEW

The course describes how soft skills influence the way we study and work, making it easier to achieve personal goals effectively. In detail also companies and organizations active in the transport and logistics sector, expect their employees to demonstrate these skills appropriately in order to achieve better results. Effective communication, teamwork, problem-solving and time management are among the key skills that will be addressed. Seminars held by experts from the industrial sector are organized to provide students with an overview of the local job market, and the required occupational profiles and skills.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The course is intended to develop students’ transversal competencies that are essential in both academic and professional environments. Core focus areas include effective communication, teamwork, problem solving, and time management. The objective is to strengthen students’ ability to operate efficiently and adaptively within complex and dynamic professional contexts.

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

At the end of the course the student will have acquired the fundamental soft skills with a special focus on the transversal skills required in the transport and logistics sector.

The course awards the following Open Badges to students who pass the exam with good results and participate in group activities and seminars:

  • Advanced Personal Competence: ability to identify one's own skills, ability to concentrate and reflect on a task, ability to manage complexity, autonomy in decisions and in carrying out tasks, critical thinking, seeking support if necessary, stress management, resilience.
  • Advanced Functional Literacy Competence: Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form, adaptation of one's communication to the context, use of sources and aids of various kinds, ability to use, process and evaluate information, argumentative skills.
  • Advanced Project Design Competence: Ability to develop one's imagination and creativity, critical reflection, strategic thinking, problem solving with reference to innovation contexts and evolving creative processes, ability to transform ideas into actions, self-awareness.
  • Advanced Social Competence: Ability to manage one's social interactions, collaborative attitude, constructive communication in different environments, ability to respect others and their needs, willingness to overcome prejudices, to express and understand different points of view, conflict management, ability to build trust, empathy.

PREREQUISITES

There are no specific requirements.

TEACHING METHODS

The course consists of theoretical lectures, practical sessions focused on group activities, and seminars. The theoretical lectures are held by the Professor with the support of slides, the group activities are dedicated to activities of team-based learning, project based learning, problem based learning and peer evaluation. Seminars held by experts from the transport and logistics‘ industrial sector are organized to provide students with an overview of the local job market, and the required occupational profiles and skills.

EXAMS

EXAM DESCRIPTION

The exam consists of the presentation of the group activity and an oral test.

Students with learning disorders ("Disturbi Specifici di Apprendimento", DSA) will be allowed to use specific modalities and supports that will be determined on a case-by-case basis in agreement with the delegate of the Engineering courses in the Committee for the Inclusion of Students with Disabilities.

ASSESSMENT METHODS

The assessment methods consist of:

  • The evaluation of the written group assignments
  • The evaluation of student’s communication skills in presenting a specific topic
  • The evaluation of the student’s active participation in group activities.

The main evaluation criteria are the quality of the presentation, the correct use of the specialized terminology, the competence in critical analysis and problem solving acquired during the course.

It is mandatory to register for the exam through the online services at least 5 days in advance.
