AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES The course will aid to frame migration as a social phenomenon, describing causes, effects and dynamics LEARNING OUTCOMES (FURTHER INFO) - develop a critical knowledge on contemporary migrations - analysing relationship between policies and migrations - realize micro-research experiences and observations on migrations TEACHING METHODS The course opts for a teaching method focussed on participation, direct experience, knowledge co-production The course will use films and images produced by the Laboratory for Visual Sociology SYLLABUS/CONTENT The course will develop the following subjects: a) causes and effects of migration; b) migration and labour market; c) gender and migration; e) migration, citizenship and social movements RECOMMENDED READING/BIBLIOGRAPHY Ambrosini M., Sociologia delle migrazioni, Il Mulino, Bologna (Ultima edizione) or Mezzadra S., Ricciardi M., Movimenti indisciplinati, Ombre Corte, Verona, 2013 - An article, chosen by stduent, from Mondi Migranti Review (last 5 years) More bibliography will be recommended during classes.
