The objectives of the course are to give to the students the basic elements to design and manage hydraulic infrastructures with focus on the engineering aspects.
Lectures
Free surface flow. Diversion works: type, structural and geotechnical elements, flow and utilization curves. Run of the rivers facilities: intake, gravel deposition tunnels, channels, complementary works and control. Reservoir works: dimensioning and management of reservoirs, regulation as function of inflows and demand. It will be examined the structural features of dams such as: gravity dams, arched, spurs, embankments dams. Will be examined the elements of the design of the flow profile due to dams, devices for energy dissipation and will be analysed the requirements of the regulation of dams. Accessory components: functionality and design of intake structures, bottom outlet and surface. design of intake structures, bottom outlet and surface.
