OVERVIEW

The program of the Physics class for Industrial and Management Engineering deals with classical physics. Mechanics is introduced in the first semester and electromagnetism in the second semester

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

After the course, students should know phenomenology and mathematical formulation of classical mechanics and electromagnetism laws. Knowing physics phenomenology means to be able to describe physics phenomena by using physical quantities. Knowing mathematical formulation means to be able to use scalar, vectorial, differential and integral forms of physics laws to interpret physical phenomena quantitatively and to predict their temporal evolution.

LEARNING OUTCOMES (FURTHER INFO)

We deem the student has achieved the learning objectives when he can solve problems of mechanics and electromagnetism by using the appropriate mathematical formalism.

TEACHING METHODS

Classes are taken twice a week and they correspond to five hours a week. Lectures and tutorial classes are not formally separated.

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

Kinematics of the point body. Dynamics of the point body. Dynamics of point body systems. Dynamics of rigid bodies. Electrostatics. Electrical currents. Electrodynamics. Magnetostatics. Electromagnetic Induction.
