AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES To provide a basic knowledge of the chemical-physical principles and methods that can be used as tools to understand and investigate industrial chemical processes. Therefore, potential applications will be presented for the laws that regulate technical thermodynamics, fluid dynamics and heat transmission. AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES Capability to evaluate the combination of mass / energy conservation equations with the thermodynamic / kinetic constitutive equations for the design or analysis of the most important auxiliary operations in the process industry and to acquire the necessary familiarity in the use of tables and graphics for the most important substances. TEACHING METHODS Lecture-based teaching. Exercises. Assessing learning achievements. SYLLABUS/CONTENT Mass , energy and entropy balance in open non-reactive systems. Characteristics, performance and efficiency of industrial equipment. Elements of psychrometry. Basic equations of fluid dynamics. Distributed and local hydraulic losses. Chimneys with natural or forced draft. Transport of conductive, convective and radiation heat. Thermal resistances.in series and parallel Heat exchangers. RECOMMENDED READING/BIBLIOGRAPHY M. J.
