OVERVIEW

This course deals with the advanced aspects of the use of personal computers, information systems and the network in the digital society. The course illustrates both the essential technical aspects and the tools and systems, and includes an individual project in which the student develops his/her own product at professional and market standards.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

This course deals with the most advanced aspects of the use of the personal computer and the network in the digital society. The assumption is that all types of documents from the past (notebook, book, picture, photograph, film, text, sound recording ...) and all types of dissemination of such documents (library, newspaper, television, telephone ... .) have now completed the convergence towards a single technological means: the computer. Even if this name is already obsolete in itself, today a single technology (the computer) is present in all the devices that process information, from the telephone to the television, from the library to the network (internet), from the notebook (tablet). to public services. It is therefore essential, for those who deal with information and culture, to know the specific aspects of this technology, as well as the principles of coding all information in numerical (digital) form, and the aspects that most differentiate it from the previous world: speed , sharing and security. The course then focuses on methodologies and technologies for web development in the fields of institutional and commercial information.

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

Following the Bloom's taxonomy, the student will achieve the following results (levels 2 to 4):
Describe: 1) the fundamentals of how multimedia documents are encoded inside the computer and in the internet, and of the different tools for converting, writing and transmitting documents; 2) the world wide web and principles for designing web-based communication
Apply: state-of-practice design schemes for multimedia communication and for the web
Compare:  different tools and techniques for writing, storing, communicating information, in particular for the web
Design and test: a real website for culture, or commerce, or tourism, or similar fields of application.

PREREQUISITES

TEACHING METHODS

The course will use the flipped classroom methodology. Aulaweb will be organized in weeks; at the beginning of each week the study texts will be published together with video lessons. On Thursday and / or Friday (in the official time slots) there will be meetings with students to discuss the program published at the beginning of the week. For the system to be effective, students must study the material before each lesson-meeting. During these lessons there will be exercises and discussions in small groups (4 or 5 students), of varying composition
