OVERVIEW

The course is dedicated to the study of territorial transformations due to the development of the tourism phenomenon and its effects on the natural, social and economic environment.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The aim of the course is to provide basic knowledge of the tourism phenomenon through the geographic analysis of the territories seen from the perspective of the transformation carried out over time by the tourist activities, in search of invariants that may suggest appropriate classifications and evolutionary paradigms. Special attention will be given to the analysis of recent tourism demand in relation to changes in the behavior and tastes of the tourist and the ways of enjoying the holiday.

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

Expected learning outcomes-.

Knowledge and understanding:

The teaching activity aims to provide knowledge of all those elements that constitute the essential motivating matter of tourism, namely the territory. In particular, the course aims to promote understanding of the results of anthropic activity on it (landscape) and on other material (built - artefacts and productions) and intangible forms (carried and cultural stratification).

Ability to apply knowledge and understanding:

The course aims to enable the analysis of territories and tourist destinations from the point of view of the possible activation and enhancement of present and potential natural and anthropogenic resources, also with reference to the demand, its segments and the ever-changing needs that the market manifests.

Autonomy of judgment:

In relation to the consistency of the knowledge acquired, an initial autonomy of judgment will be achieved, supported by the ability to systematize quantitative data and qualitative analyzes.

Communication skills:

The course provides the basic elements to allow you to address issues related to the territory and tourist destinations with the methodological tools and the appropriate classification and terminological and communicative categories.

Learning ability:

The acquired notions allow to form an initial ability to analyze in relation to the tourism issues of the territories and destinations related to the present situation and to the hypotheses of evolution.

PREREQUISITES

No.

TEACHING METHODS

The course consists of lectures, for a total of 36 hours (equal to 6 CFU), aimed at presenting and studying the main notions of the geography of tourism through the use of practical examples.

The materials used during the lessons will be uploaded to AulaWeb together with other materials (reports, links to databases, etc.) aimed at defining the quantitative aspects of the phenomena studied.

Occasionally, scholars or experts in the discipline (Italian and foreign) may also be invited to hold seminars to deepen specific aspects of the issues dealt with.

Attending students will also have the opportunity to carry out case studies through group work. The group work is divided into two phases: preparation of a written paper, oral presentation accompanied by slides. Timely information will be provided in class and through the teaching AulaWeb.

If the epidemiological situation requires it, the teaching will be carried out remotely on Teams, according to the specifications that will be published promptly in the AulaWeb instance.
