CODE 83902 ACADEMIC YEAR 2021/2022 CREDITS 6 cfu anno 2 ARCHITETTURA 9915 (LM-4) - GENOVA SCIENTIFIC DISCIPLINARY SECTOR ICAR/17 LANGUAGE Italian TEACHING LOCATION GENOVA SEMESTER 1° Semester TEACHING MATERIALS AULAWEB OVERVIEW The course aims to train the student on the scientific and critical theory and on the practice of producing drawings, and images for the contemporary architectural project. AIMS AND CONTENT LEARNING OUTCOMES The course provides knowledge and skills for the deepening and experimentation of representation methodologies for the critical analysis of the pre-existence and for the architectural design in its different scalar dimensions. With this in mind, the representation is seen as a way of addressing the complexity of the project, intended as an ex-novo act of creation or as a system of operations functional to cognitive processes affirming its value as an autonomous aesthetic subject expressive of forms of critical research. AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES The student will face a theoretical and practical path that will lead him to know the scientific fundamentals (geometric, visual and perceptive) and the technical methods of using some updated tools for creating models, drawings and images (parametric modeling, photo insertion, rendering, panoramic photography, video. During the course, an exercitation is proposed which consists in creating a spatial configuration through parametric modeling systems, in its insertion in an urban context and in its representation choosing the modes of expression considered most effective. The student will acquire not only the technical tools, but also the critical ones that will enable him to work in a group more effectively and to motivate and illustrate the different stages of development. PREREQUISITES / TEACHING METHODS The lessons are divided into lectures, participate lessons (critical discussions) and Team Based Learning sessions, to enhance an active and collaborative teaching. We will produce models, drawings, photographs and images. It is also given importance to the acquisition of transversal (or soft) skills, particularly the ability to argue critically their own choices and the organization of work in groups. THE COURSE ON AULAWEB IS UPDATED WEEKLY. SYLLABUS/CONTENT Geometry and parametric models for architecture -Theoretical and applicative aspects of modelling: mathematical and numerical representation, parametric modeling -Curved lines and surfaces: modeling and use in architecture -Particular geometric aspects (Euclidean and non-Euclidean geometries, invariants and projective and topological geometry, symmetry and attractor) and their applications to architecture -The tessellations in plane and space and their application in the transition from ideal geometric forms to real architectural forms Architecture and context - Generation and Insertion of a configuration in a context - Photographic insertion - Panoramic photography - Hybrid configurations of drawings, photographs and images -rendering, animation and video RECOMMENDED READING/BIBLIOGRAPHY The course uses pieces extracts of texts available in the library, including: -Pottman H.
