OVERVIEW

The course is focused on quality and sustainability in production facilities accordingly to technology development, design and management. Industry 4.0 paradigm will be the base of the course with internal and external perspectives on the main performance dimensions such as productivity, quality, reliability, flexibility as well as social, economical, and environmental aspects. Interaction with smart safety topics and cyber security will be also provided.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The course is aimed at studying quality and sustainability in production units and in the technology development, design, and applications. After an initial classification of the general problem, the course will review in depth issues related to industrial production of a product used as an example and integrity control methodologies. The course topics involve activities in the areas of: innovative technologies in industrial and transports uses, environmental aspects in production, new materials development, and processes management for sustainability

TEACHING METHODS

The topics will be developed indicatively on 12 weeks of articulated frontal lesson on two days of lessons per week dividing the arguments into sustainability and quality every week.

Some seminar will be organized.

The frequency is mandatory or recommended.

Some simple exercises will be performed.

They will be using media as movies from the web.

EXAMS

EXAM DESCRIPTION

Oral examination in presence with dates to be agreed with the teacher in addition to official appeals.

The test will be on all the topics presented and discussed in class.

ASSESSMENT METHODS

The oral exam will allow to verify the approval capacity and to connect different concepts between them.

The quality of exposure, the correct use of the specialist lexicon will also be evaluated, the ability to critical reasoning.

Any methods due to COVID restrictions will be evaluated during the half-year.

Assignment given to individuals. Discussion of the task for each individual student. The assignment weighs for 40% of the course vote. Presence of the class and participation 20%. Oral discussion 40%.
