The course focuses on the management of Large Combustion Plants, LCP, and their interaction with the environment. Best Available Technologies to reduce pollutant emissions in LCP, during combustion, fuel storage and transportation, will be analyzed on the base of the European IPCC BrEF Document taking into account also associated risks. Pollutant emission estimation, monitoring and control strategies and The Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) are presented.
The course will cover the topics related to the management of Large Combustion Plants, LCP, and their interaction with the environment. Fuel properties and associated risks are presented, with a focus on the Utilities network monitoring. Combustion process and its environmental impact will be investigated and the Best Available Technology to reduce pollutant emissions in LCP will be analyzed on the base of the 2016 European IPCC BrEFDocument. LCP pollutant monitoring and control strategies will be presented.
The student must be able to estimate the LCP related emissions intensity, to select the proper control strategy and to size the system accordingly
The student must understand the effects imposed by natural events (strong wind and heavy rainfall) over production sites, and counter-action measures.
The student must know the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process and the related activities
Theoretical lessons and practical examples
