OVERVIEW

The course aims to provide foreign students with an Italian language competence at A1 level (contact) according to the levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR https://www.coe.int/en/web/common-european-framework-reference-languages/level-descriptions)

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The course allows the student to achieve a sufficient oral and written comprehension of the local language, as well as an introduction to country culture.

At the end of the course, the student will be able to understand written and oral texts in Italian and to write and speak in Italian according to the criteria described in the CEFR (Common European Framework of References for Languages https://www.coe.int/en/web/common-european-framework-reference-languages/level-descriptions) for A1 level.

PREREQUISITES

There are no prerequisites for this course.

TEACHING METHODS

The course includes 50 hours (5 CFU) during the first semester.

- Reading/listening and comprehension

- Conversation and interaction.

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

Vocabulary

Greetings, nationalities, classroom objects, people and school environments, human body parts, hours of the day, hobbies , days of the week, months, jobs, seasons, holidays, weather, dishes and meals, food and drink, types of restaurants,  table setting, clothing, colors, means of transportation, shops, places in the city and sports.

Communication elements

Introduce yourself; ask and say name, nationality and age; ask and tell how you are; spelling in Italian; express agreement, disagreement, uncertainty and doubt; ask and say where you work; express an opinion; ask for explanations; describe the human body; order at a bar; ask and say the time; accept or decline an invitation; talk about leisure time; ask and say the date of birth; ask and say what day it is; organise a trip; offer good wishes; ask about and say something that happen in the past; describe a person's character, ask and give directions; talk about your family; order at a restaurant; be able to locate objects; talk about daily habits; shop in a store; talk about past events.

Grammatical elements

Alphabet, personal pronouns, pronunciation c and g, formal and informal distinctions, affirmative, negative and interrogative sentences, the gender and number of names and adjectives, masculine and feminine/singular and plural, noun and adjective agreement, cardinal and ordinal numbers, definite and indefinite articles, present tens of regular, irregular and reflective verbs, qualifying adjectives , demonstrative adjectives, possessive adjectives, adverbs of frequency, simple and articulated prepositions, improper prepositions and simple past.

You have to understand the story told in the book "Via del Corso A1".

EXAM DESCRIPTION

Final written test and oral test

To be eligible for the oral test, students must pass the written test with a minimum grade of 16/30. The grade obtained in the written test will be averaged with the score obtained on the oral test.

Online registration is required.

The written test is based on the lexical, grammatical and communicative topics covered in the textbook "Via del Corso A1".

The candidate should be able to introduce himself.
