Starting with the Rome Charter for Maritime Heritage, signed in 2007, a multidisciplinary approach will be developed to all that is considered to be the "maritime cultural heritage", both historical and monumental, floating and submerged.
The aim of the course is to narrate the history of maritime human activities through the objects, artefacts and works of art that were produced and used during the centuries between the Middle Ages and the contemporary age. It also aims to analyse the ways in which these objects have become global cultural heritage.
Good knowledge of history and art history
The course will be structured around lectures and thematic seminars. Lectures will hopefully be held in presence, with the possibility for students to follow them also at a distance (in case of distance lectures via videoconference on the Teams platform, the access code will be provided here: nombnyp ).
The course will be structured around a historical journey of objects, artefacts and works of art that have marked the maritime history of the Mediterranean, with particular reference to the medieval and modern ages.
