AIMS AND CONTENT

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to design base cells for circuits in microelectronic technology (in particular CMOS) starting from functional and behavioral specifications.

In particular, he will have learned the main elements of microelectronic design such as: basic knowledge of device manufacturing technologies, modeling, realization at the layout level (including knowledge of the design rules), circuits and construction approaches to static, dynamic and digital circuits. of memory, in-depth study of circuit simulation methodologies.

TEACHING METHODS

Lectures and 4 hours of practice

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

  1. Introduction to microelectronics technology: from silicon to chip fabrication.
  2. Basic concepts of microelectronic layout: design rules, circuit examples, Microwind layout tool; Behavior and modeling of the MOS transistor.
  3. Logic circuits: base cells (inverters, logic gates) in NMOS and CMOS technology. Dynamic circuits and memories;
  4. Assignment of the final project (realization of a simple arithmetic circuit in dynamic CMOS logic).
