OVERVIEW

Some knowledge of economy is needed for a doctor because every medical act also has an economic aspect, as it uses resources. The resources, however, are always limited compared to needs. The doctor must choose everyday which are the priority needs. The choice must take into account not only the individual, but all the people who make up society, according to the economic criteria of effectiveness, efficiency and equity.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The course is aimed at providing knowledge on "non-medical" tools and methods applied to medicine. The course will deal with practical statistics and biometrics applications in assessing medical issues, IT applications in healthcare management, and opportunities offered by the web. Evaluate epidemiological data and know how to use it to promote health and disease prevention. Apply in medical decisions the basic principles of healthcare; integrate the tools of clinical methodology with economic methodologies so that future physicians can understand the main lines of the functioning of the healthcare system in which they start to operate and perform their profession, and have simple interpretive tools that can help them to take decisions that are compatible not only with the best medical practice but also with the best use of resources. Educate your doctor's permanent training and tools.
