    OVERVIEW

The course –in English – is composed by two parts: The law of international organizations, and by International law of armed conflicts.

The course aims to deepen the principles, the organs, the functions and the acts of the most important international organisations, in particular the United Nations; the relevant rules on international armed conflicts (the law of war; international humanitarian law), and of international criminal law for the commission of crimina iuris gentium.

    AIMS AND CONTENT

    LEARNING OUTCOMES

The course as a whole aims to provide students with the theoretical and methodological tools to analyse and understand the functioning of international organisations, specifically the United Nations and the World Trade Organisation. The course also aims to provide students with the theoretical and methodological tools to understand and contextualise in the global scenario the international law of armed conflicts (or humanitarian law) and international criminal law. The skills acquired will enable students to analyse international conflicts and the consequences of violations of the rules governing the use of force and the protection of civilians in international law from a legal, critical and autonomous perspective.
