    OVERVIEW

    The course aims to study how information is acquired, codified and processed in today's multimedia universe. For this purpose, general elements of theory and practice will be provided to the students, in addition to new frontiers of mobile journalism and related manipulation of multimodal information content provided by audio, images and video, which constitutes the essence of modern forms of communication.

    The goal will be to make students aware and competent on how to use the tools provided by the web, with all the various rules of communication conveyed by these tools.

    Great space will be given to social networks for news dissemination, thus their knowledge, functionality and potential, writing and especially rules of content managerment.

     

    AIMS AND CONTENT

    LEARNING OUTCOMES

    The course aims to define the areas of integrated multimedia information, the contamination of languages, genres and knowledge, the goals, strategies and content of content management, and web usability.

    Some significant models of integrated, multimedia and multichannel news management will also be presented.

    AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

    At the end of the course, the student will be able to design, coordinate and carry out text, video, audio editing operations to convey information, integrating it in the various channels and media of digital disttibution (web, tablet, smartphone etc.), ensuring consistency, clarity, completeness and correctness, respecting content and appropriate language.

    The trainees will acquire basic computer skills to manage the various tools and the administration of an online newspaper will be simulated, where they can gain experience with the new journalistic communication and editorial plans.

    They will face the new frontiers of the profession thanks to the notions of communication and marketing that will facilitate the consolidation of their presence on the web as Journalists 3.0.

    TEACHING METHODS

    Lessons will be divided into a theoretical e practical part, individually or in groups. It will mainly concern the management of a telematic newspaper where to experiment with the various forms of communication, techniques and digital tools illustrated, with a view to their integration.

    Assignments will be given periodically and will constitute 50 percent of the overall assessment.

    • Characteristics, tools and methods of the journalist of yesterday and today
      •  Citizen Journalism
    • Journalism 3.0
      • The multichannel information
      • From the video journalist to the mobile journalist
    • The importance of sources: choosing, fake news, debunking
    • Data journalism
    • Social media marketing and personal branding responses to the profession
    • Digital communication rules in various formats
    • The tools for communicating digitally:
      • Texts for print, social, newsletters
      • Static images: photos, cards, infographics (photo editing and copyright)
      • Animations: gifs, banners, comics
      • Video: clips, commercials, videos for social, streaming
      • Audio: recordings, editing, podcasting, formats

    EXAM DESCRIPTION

    The exam will consist of the evaluation of the assigned workshop, which will be worth 50% of the student's overall grade.

    The evaluation of the assignments given during the course it will contribute to the remaining 50%.

    No oral test is currently expected.
