OVERVIEW

Students will analyze maternal body changes  during pregnancy, childbirth an postpartum; and will be introduced to pregnancy educational and  relational needs  also  in order to face  the childbirth event, the puerperium and breastfeeding specific issues.

AIMS AND CONTENT

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

The student will be able to

-face with the body metabolic modifications during the first pregnancy weeks

-know the placental circulatory modifications that allow fetal growing

The student will be able to

-understand the specific symptoms  during pregnancy and childbirth

- give a correct information regarding common habits during pregnancy

-support women and their families towards a normal birth culture,  possibly women centered

TEACHING METHODS

Three educational session will be performed in the classroom, during which all the scheduled items will be dealt with and a 90 min video will be showed and discussed

Maternal body modifications during pregnancy

Nutritional needs in pregnancy, childbirth, portpartum and breastfeeding

A mother and fetus caring and monitoring programs brief overview,  and a social and cultural best supportive actions brief description
