AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

• Provide students with the basic notions regarding the definition of orthosis/prosthesis and its characteristics
• Pay attention to biomechanics when building orthosis
• Introduce issues relating to hygiene, storage, construction of thermoplastic material
• Develop in students the ability to conceive/create a guardian based on charactheristics of patient

At the end of the course, the student will be able to:

• Recognize the differences between upper limb pathologies, in relation to the proposed prosthesis;
• Recognize what patient’s need an choosing in the packaging/proposal of most suitable orthosis for the patology

TEACHING METHODS

• interactive frontal lesson, exercise in samll groups to simoulate the construction of orthosis, Compilation of learning questionnaries by theme of the individual lesson

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

• common characteristics definition orthosis for upper limb,specifically of various district such as shoulder, elbow, wrist, hand-finger complex
• use and conservation in the preventive and post surgical phase
• note of prosthesis and their differnces
• construction of static braces un thermoplastic material
