    AIMS AND CONTENT

    LEARNING OUTCOMES

    Knowing the main issues related to pregnancy, childbirth and the pre peri and postnatal morbidity and the most frequent forms of gynecologic pathology. Learn  the principles for the management of emergency clinical situations and urgency, putting in place the necessary first aids.

    COURSE OBJECTIVES

     The student will be introduced to:

    1) the female physiology

    2) physiological mechanism of childbirth

    3) the main obstetric complications

    4) contraception

    5) the main gynecological pathologies, including cancer

     

    LEARNING OUTCOMES

    At  the end of the class  the student will be ablle to :

    know, evaluate and compare female reproductive function including contraception 

    distinguish the concept of  obsterical risk

    distinguish and classify  delivery complications

    recognize the different diagnosis of  gynecological pathologies

    TEACHING METHODS

    Lectures with projections of audiovisual material

    SYLLABUS/CONTENT

    Define a monitoring plan for low-risk pregnancy

    Acquire notions of prenatal Diagnostics

    Framing and evaluating the conditions of risk in pregnancy

    Know the main pathologies in first trimester: abortion and ectopic pregnancy

    Management of emergencies in the third stage of labour: placenta previa, Placental Abruption, postpartum hemorrhage

    Human reproduction, contraception, and sexually transmitted diseases

    Menstrual disorders and dysmenorrhea, postmenopausal bleeding

    Prevention, screening, and early detection of gynecological cancers, including breast cancer

    Knowing how to instrument a pap smear

    Major gynecological benign diseases: fibroids, ovarian cysts, prolapse

    Major gynecological surgical procedures

    RECOMMENDED READING/BIBLIOGRAPHY

    all teaching material (slides, videos)  will be given to the students.

    For further deepening: any Gynecology and Obstetrics manual in use for medical students
