    TEACHING MATERIALS AULAWEB

    OVERVIEW

The lessons of Neurology intend to give to the student the knowledge of the main anatomic and functional aspects of Central and Peripheral Nervous System with a simple but scientifically correct description of principal physio-pathological alterations valuable by neurological examination.

    AIMS AND CONTENT

    LEARNING OUTCOMES

The lessons of Neurology have the goal of give to the student the knowledge of the main functions and dysfunctions of CNS and PNS with particular attention to the motility in consideration of the future activity in the field of neuro-motor rehabilitation. The teachers give to the student information on sensorial and sensitive functions as well as on cortical functions, in particular on language.

    AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

The student must know the anatomy, the physiology and the main pathological problems related to the pyramidal, cortico-bulbar, extra-pyramidal systems as well as the method of their clinical evaluation. Other elements will be the cranial nerve functions, in particular the vision and the ocular motility, and the neurological dysfunctions linked to cerebral, spinal and peripheral involvement. The student must know the localization of brain speech centers and the differences between aphasia and dysarthria, the main functions of vegetative nervous system. In conclusion, the student must know the principal elements witch are useful for the identification of the site of a lesion of the Nervous System.

    TEACHING METHODS

Part of the didactic program will be based on a “on line” tele-didactic system; the remaining part of the program will be performed using traditional didactic methods (frontal lessons)

    EXAMS

    EXAM DESCRIPTION

    Oral test

The student will be examined on all part of the program of Applied Neurosciences part I.

Each teacher will evaluate the student on his part of didactic program and will give his score; at the end of the test, the Coordinator will make the mean of the individual scores and give to the student the global score. The student may refuse the result. In this case, the student must repeat the test in another session. The coordinator inserts the questions and the scores on the electronic recording system as soon as possible.

    ASSESSMENT METHODS

The student must demonstrate the knowledge of the neurology and must be able to understand the normal and pathological function of the Nervous System, and to classify the clinical picture of his patient in order to evaluate the best rehabilitative approach with a correct judgment process. He will be able to clearly communicate his professional conclusion.
