The lessons of Psychiatry of Adulthood intend to give to the student the knowledge of the main aspects of psychopathology and clinical examination.
By the end of the course, the student should:
- Recognize most frequent psychopathologies
- Gain knowledge of main mental disorders
- Gain knowledge of established procedure and law of involuntary hospitalization (n° 180 13/05/1978)
- Demonstrate knowledge about diagnostic criteria based on DSM 5of most frequent psychopathologies
- Demonstrate knowledge about diagnostic complexity in Psychiatry
Frontal lessons.
Support slides will be discussed and detailed by the professor.
Slides and other teaching material, if requested, will be provided online to students.
All class contents will be sufficient theoretical elements for exam preparation.
Signs and Symptoms in Psychiatry: consciuosness, attention, memory, intelligence, speech, mood, thinking, perception, motor behavior.
Mood disorder: depressive disorders and bipolar disorders
Anxiety disorders
Obsessive-compulsive disorder
Schizophrenia and Other Psychotic Disorders
Personality Disorders
Eating disorders
Substance- Related Disorder (Alcohol and Drugs)
Emergency Psychiatric Medicine
Established procedure and law of involuntary hospitalization (n° 180 13/05/1978)

The exam will mainly concentrate on the topics discussed in frontal lessons and it will aim at evaluating theoretical preparation, related to the achievement of an adequate knowledge of the subject matter, as well as the ability to process, in term of personal reflection, all the provided contents.
The student must also display the acquisition of a specific terminology of the subject matter.
The exam can be sit only in oral form.
Two open-ended questions will be asked in relation to the topics discussed during class.
