    OVERVIEW

    Contemporary Italian Literature is composed by:
    
    1) Contemporary Italian Literature (8 CFU)
    
    2) Contemporary Italian Literature (workshop) (1 CFU)
    
    
    Contemporary Italian Literature studies Italian literary production from the end of the Nineteenth century to the present day, with particular attention to the historical framework and to the analysis of the text.
    
    The workshop faces a specific path in the disciplinary field and proposes a practical application of the knowledge learned.

     

    AIMS AND CONTENT

    LEARNING OUTCOMES

    The main objective of the course, of which the workshop is an integral part, is to provide the students with a good knowledge of contemporary Italian literature. The gained knowledge, together with the acquired textual competence, will allow them to draw on our contemporary literary heritage in their future professional activity.

    AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

    CAPACITY 'TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: Students will be able to apply their knowledge and understanding and solving problems relating to contemporary Italian literature.
    JUDGEMENT: Students must know how to use both at the conceptual level and at the operational knowledge gained self evaluation skills and skills in different application contexts.
    ENABLE 'COMMUNICATION: Students will acquire the typical discipline technical language to communicate clearly and unambiguously with interlocutors specialists and non-specialists.
    CAPACITY 'LEARNING: Students will develop appropriate learning skills to allow them to continue to independently investigate major issues of discipline especially in the workplace in which they will operate.

    PREREQUISITES

    No prerequisites.

    TEACHING METHODS

    Lessons will take place face to face or remotely depending on the evolution of the general situation.

     

    Contemporary Italian Literature is in any case divided into lectures carried out by the teacher who will retrace the history of Italian Literature of the Twentieth century, accompanied by the reading of a choice of texts.

     

    The workshop includes individual and group exercises on texts, elaboration of didactic projects and sharing of the work done.

     

     

    SYLLABUS/CONTENT

    1. Contemporary Italian Literature: History of Contemporary Italian Literature.

     

    The history of Italian literature of the last century will be retraced, with the main authors and a selection of texts.

     

    2. Workshop: Pascoli and Gozzano between fairy tale and poetry.

     

    The relationship between poetic writing and fairy tales will be studied, examining some fairy tales and a poetic choice.

     

    RECOMMENDED READING/BIBLIOGRAPHY

    The student is required to obtain:

     

    Alberto Casadei, Marco Santagata, Manuale di Letteratura italiana contemporanea, Bari, Laterza, 2007 (or subsequent reprints).

     

    Additional teaching material for both Contemporary Italian Literature and workshop will be provided during the lessons (please register and refer constantly to aulaweb).

    EXAM DESCRIPTION

    The exam will take place orally. To access the oral exam, students must have attended the laboratory.

    ASSESSMENT METHODS

    Contemporary Italian Literature: the student must demonstrate a good knowledge of contemporary Italian literature in its historical development together with the selection of texts, according to the indications provided in class.
    
    Workshop: the assessment of the skills acquired will take place in itinere through practical exercises.
    
    Non-attending students will have to agree with the teacher on the program and study methods that ensure the acquisition of the skills required for the course.
