    OVERVIEW

    The 1st year training aims to put the student in the clinical reality of a dental structure and to equip him with the tools necessary for his integration into the dental team. In particular, the student is able to attend a dental department by becoming an active participant and applying the acquired professional knowledge.

    The 1st year training aims to put the student in the clinical reality of a dental structure and to equip him with the tools necessary for his integration into the dental team. In particular, the student is able to attend a dental department by becoming an active participant and applying the acquired professional knowledge.

    AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

    The student learns to observe the activity in the dental clinics in its entirety, with particular focus on the procedures for receiving and leaving the patient, preparing the operative unit and the equipment needed for medical intervention, decontamination and disinfection of the operational area, to the convoy of the contaminated instrumentation to the sterilization unit, to the storage and reorder of sterile and sterilized instrumentation.

    SYLLABUS/CONTENT

    • Skills and role of professional figures working in the dental team;

    • Privacy in Healthcare;

    • Modalities for transmission of infectious diseases in the dental field;

    • Transmission methods of cross-infection in the dental field;

    • Crossed contamination control;

    • Hygiene of hands;

    • Personal protective equipment;

    • Control of infections in odontostomatology: bloodborne infections, airborne infections, waterborne infections;

    • Classification and management of surfaces based on the degree of contamination;

    • Classification of medical devices according to the degree of invasiveness;

    • Classification of chemical disinfectants according to the level of action;

    • Dental disinfectants used in dentistry;

    • Sterilization: Physical and Chemical Methods;

    • Steam sterilization: operating principles, testing;

    • The traceability of the processed device;

    • Management of contaminated medical devices: decontamination, detoxification, packaging, disinfection / sterilization and storage;

    • Preparation and reorder of the dental unit: cleaning, sanitizing and disinfecting.
