its historical development. The second part focuses on the main tenets of text
linguistics, as well as on the development of planning, drafting and revising
techniques of non-literary text-types.

AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

It concerns the scientific study of contemporary Italian in its geographical,
social and situational varieties, focusing on the structures, functions and
linguistic usage; it is integrated by an interactive workshop, aimed at
promoting techniques of text analysis and drafting of Italian for professional
purposes [part distance course].

TEACHING METHODS

Two contact hours plus a distance hour every week, in which students will
prepare a short presentation, to be given in the second part of the course. All
course material will be on AulaWeb. Students with SLD are advised to contact the teacher at the start of the course.

SYLLABUS/CONTENT

In the first part of the course the main features of contemporary Italian will
be considered in its phonetic and phonological, morphological, syntactic,
semantic and pragmatic aspects. Moreover, the main varieties forming a
sociolinguistic profile of Italian will be looked at - diatopic, diamesic,
diastratic and diaphasic, also in a diachronic perspective.
In the second part, starting from key concepts in text-linguistics, the main
features of the written text will be investigated in its diverse typologies, to
