The course provides an introduction to knowledge and understanding of the main public health issues with a view to the prevention of monofactorial and multifactorial diseases and the study of health determinants
The course illustrates to the student the scientific methodology related to the study of the spread of infectious and chronic degenerative diseases in the population. It also illustrates risk factors and describes disease events on an epidemiological basis, using statistical descriptors specific to the discipline. The concepts of prevention of infectious and chronic-degenerative diseases will then be provided, analysing in particular the concepts of primary, secondary and tertiary prevention.
Attendance and active participation in the proposed training activities and individual study will allow the student to acquire:
- Knowledge of risk factors of both infectious and chronic-degenerative diseases
- Knowledge of the main health determinants
- Knowledge of the main modes of transmission of infectious diseases.
- Knowledge of the main prophylaxis measures.
- Knowledge of the main national and Community environmental legislation.

For the first semester, the lessons will be carried out in presence if possible, guaranteeing the enjoyment of the lessons also at a distance, through video recording, synchronous or asynchronous. The laboratory exercises will be organized if possible in presence, possibly with several shifts.
