    OVERVIEW

    The module aims to provide an advanced understanding of the fundamental principles and topics of quality, safety and environment certification.

    AIMS AND CONTENT

    LEARNING OUTCOMES

    The module aims to provide the fundamentals of  Business Management Systems: Quality, Safety and Environment  to have the basic knowledge of the methods of control of company production.

    AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

    Participation in the planned training activities (lectures) will allow students to acquire the general knowledge and fundamental notions on the methods of business management in terms of quality, safety and environment.

     

    The module aims to define the basic concepts such as the concepts underlying a certification, quality standards such as ISOs and some standards to be followed to guarantee the quality of the product. 

     

    The student must be able to:

    Know the patterns behind the proper functioning of a company;

    Acquire the mechanisms by which standards apply in terms of quality safety and the environment;

    Understand the meaning and value of certification.

     

    Skills acquired at the end of the course: at the end of the course the student must have acquired a general vision of the mechanisms by which a company is able to guarantee compliance with the safety and quality standards underlying productions that include human use.

     

    PREREQUISITES

    Knowledge of Physics, Chemistry and Biochemistry programs.

    Knowledge of the main aspects of General Biology.

    TEACHING METHODS

    Lectures. Depending on the current situation and the provisions of the University, both frontal teaching and exams can be carried out remotely in telematic mode.

     

    SYLLABUS/CONTENT

    1. Standards underlying environmental management and quality:
      1. Mandatory, mandatory and voluntary standards.
      2. Meaning and value of certification; the international certification and accreditation system.
      3. Struttura and value of a management system according to ISO standards.
      4. Figures: Head of Security and Auditor
      5. Control, analysis and testing: the qualification of laboratories.
      6. Tools for management systems.
      7. Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
      8. Examples of Applications: products for human use e.g. cosmetics
        1. Cosmetic field
        2. Environmental field
    2. Safety of products for human use
      1. Regulatory basis of the safety of a product for human use
      2. European quality and safety assessment bodies: ECHA; EFSA, SCCS; OECD

    EXAM DESCRIPTION

    The exam method for the evaluation of the student's achievement of the set objectives will take place with an oral examination, and will always be conducted by a Commission consisting of at least two tenured teachers (or in limited cases by a tenured teacher and a fan of the subject designated by the CCS). The Commission, appointed in these ways, is able to verify with high accuracy the achievement of the educational objectives of the course.

    At least 3 appeals will be available in the winter session (January-February) and 3 appeals in the summer session (June, July, September).

    ASSESSMENT METHODS

    The Commission accurately verifies the achievement of the educational objectives of the teaching by asking different questions related to the program actually carried out during the lessons of the module.

    A power point presentation showing a topic choosen by the student will be also evaluated.

    For the final evaluation of the student the commission will evaluate the following requirements: level of knowledge of the topics covered by the questions, exposure skills, ability to reason and link with other topics of the module. In the event that the training objectives are not achieved, the student is invited to better verify his / her knowledge and possibly to make use of further explanations by contacting the lecturer in charge of the module.
