The course provides the knowledge in the fields of Regional Geology and of the Georesources. It is aimed at understanding the main geological processes that have led to the current geological conformation of Liguria and to provide the basic theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of mining activities for a sustainable exploitation of georesources.
The course aims to provide:
- the fundamental knowledge on the evolution, characteristics and geologic values of Liguria, in the frame of the geologic context of the Western Mediterranean area and of the geologic history of the Earth
- the theoretical and practical knowledge on mineral georesources; the student will learn to recognize and characterize the useful materials derived from minerals and rocks (metals, aggregate resources, industrial minerals and ornamental stones) and will acquire the basic concepts for planning and evaluating the environmental impact of the extractive activity.
Basic knowledge in the fields of Stratigraphic Geology, Structural Geology, Paleontology, Mineralogy, Petrography.
Office hours: The students are able to book an appointment by phone, by mail or by aulaweb
Office hours: The students' reception will be arranged directly with the teacher.
MICHELE PIAZZA (President)
LAURA FEDERICO
ROBERTO CABELLA (President Substitute)
ANTONINO BRIGUGLIO (Substitute)
The exam consists of an oral test consisting of the exposition of a selected topic agreed with the teachers and in the answer to questions posed on topics covered during the course. Two appeals will be available in the winter session (January-February) and 5 appeals in the summer session (June, July, September) which will be published on the UNIGE website.
The exam will focus on the topics covered during the lectures and the field and laboratory exercises. It will aim to assess whether the student has reached an adequate level of knowledge, if he has acquired the ability to discuss geological processes by integrating the notions received from both modules and the ability to use the theoretical notions for the analysis of real cases. The ability to expose the arguments clearly and with correct terminology will also be evaluated.
