The attendance and participation in the planned activities (lectures and in the laboratory) will allow the student to acquire the general knowledge of Ecology studies in order to deal with studies in the field of prevention techniques in the environment and in the workplace. The acquired concepts, basic and advanced, will allow the student to better understand the environmental development and problems in order to support evaluation, planning, and processing activities, and the application of the necessary procedures to prevent risks and to defend both the environment and human health.
The teaching consists of lectures and laboratory activities. As activities are planned for the application of the acquired knowledge, practical and methodological activities, attendance at lectures and laboratory exercises is recommended. Lectures in the classroom are delivered through multimedia presentations. The lab activities take place in specific classrooms of the DISTAV.
The course program includes an analysis of the structure and functioning of ecological systems and the interactions and processes that exist between biotic and abiotic compartments. In particular, the following will be examined: the ecosystem, the energy flow and the material cycle in ecosystems, the physical environment, the acclimatization strategies and the adaptation of organisms to the environment; the dynamics and regulation of populations according to resources and biotic interactions; the structure and the space-time variations of the communities. Environmental and pollution problems will also be taken into consideration, also in relation to the regulations in force with a view to preventing risks, protecting the environment and human health.
All slides used during the lessons and other educational material will be available at the end of each cycle of lectures / laboratory exercises along with other bibliographic material in pdf format.
