TEACHING MATERIALS | AULAWEB |
At the end of the course, the student will be able to:
- analyze a pre-existing building context and identify performance deficiencies in relation to the physical and functional requirements with respect to the intended use, with particular reference to the aspects of environmental comfort and energy consumption for its achievement,
- define a building redevelopment project maximizing the characteristics of environmental sustainability,
- apply the principles of bioclimatic design and microclimatic management of the building to the redevelopment or design from scratch of a building,
- integrate energy production plants from renewable energy sources into the project,
- select the construction solutions and materials best suited to maximize the environmental sustainability of a building,
- consider the role of plant equipment in relation to re-functionalization.
The teaching activity takes place around the development of one or more projects - at the building scale, with thematic insights and development of technical details - by the students gathered in small groups. Lectures, group discussions, individual interviews, "problem based learning" meetings will be held. Attendance is mandatory, in the presence and / or remotely in relation to the evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic situation.
Considering the knowledge already acquired in previous years, these will be integrated, through lectures, "problem based learning" meetings, and interviews both collegial and personal with teachers during the development of the project, in order to allow students to be able to develop a building project with attention to the environmental sustainability of the construction process. To this end, the following themes will be faced to make “green” a project:
- To analyze the requirements and performance of a building in an urban or peri-urban setting
- To design using steel technologies and wood technologies
- To design using low environmental impact solutions and materials
- To integrate vegetation into the architectural project
- To redefine the plant equipment
- To integrate the architecture with production plants from renewable sources
- Evaluate the energy performance of a building
Bibliographic references will be communicated during the lessons

All class schedules are posted on the EasyAcademy portal.
The exam consists in the final presentation of the projects developed, with discussion on the issues addressed
Through the presentation of the projects, students will illustrate the choices made regarding the topics covered and indicated in the program, as further detailed during the development of the teaching. The ability to deal with the issues through their application in the project and the ability to communicate and argue the design choices made will be assessed.
