|SCIENTIFIC DISCIPLINARY SECTOR||ICAR/15|
|MODULES||This unit is a module of:|
The course intends to present a synthesis of the methods of analysis, interpretation and design of landscape architecture with the aim of promoting the knowledge of different approaches, methods and techniques for the analysis and design of the landscape itself, understood as an eco-system. and as a multi-scalar scenario. This approach will take into consideration the evolution over time of the City-Landscape-Territory association and its relationship today with the development of innovative strategies for a new logic of complexity. The key element of the course will be the public space intended as an active, productive and social space in its relations with the new natural-artificial and multidisciplinary condition of the contemporary city. The course will make use of the collaboration of the Geo-Morfo-Lab
Landscape design requires a multidisciplinary ability for reading and understanding the project site. The Laboratory proposes a design path that expresses cultural contents starting from the interpretation of the context at different dimensional levels and in coherence with the transformations that have characterized it and with the needs of the inhabitants. The integrated module intends to provide students with specific support in relation to the analytical and critical study of the landscape context in which the project area is located, providing useful tools for conscious design, in particular by guiding students in the design of open spaces in connection with the urban, peri-urban and large-scale landscape context, with reference to the most current contemporary examples of landscape design.
Lectures on the most significant topics and REVIEWS integrated with the teachers of the students' papers.
Methodological and application lessons, integrated with inspections and reviews of students' work:
- Landscape ANALYSIS at different scales.
- Retrieval and selection of data: Reading of maps, thematic maps, aerial photos, etc. ..
- Analysis of landscape transformations
- Relations between the historic center, the urban area and the cultivated plain
- Identification of critical and strategic areas
PROJECT Themes to be developed:
- Interpretation of the landscape as a design content
- Connections between the project area and the context: visual references, physical connections to a broader urban redevelopment system
- WATER: along the river, archaeological area in the riverbed, embankments, SOIL permeability and surface water DRAINAGE.
- VEGETATION and ecosystem services for a resilient city.
- Participation and shared planning: needs of the inhabitants and socio-cultural aspects
- Gentle mobility
- Examples of landscape projects with similar themes

Presentation of the produced works
The integrated evaluation of the papers will take into account the skills acquired by the students, both in terms of the ability to read and evaluate the landscape, the completeness of the indications of the urban project, and the communication skills of the project contents.
