    TEACHING MATERIALS AULAWEB

    OVERVIEW

    The course is part of a teaching consisting of two different integrated and complementary modules, the knowledge acquired in the first module will be integrated and completed in the second one with a constant interaction of the topics covered.

    The course develops both on a theoretical basis and on practical applications.

    The course provides students with the basic knowledge concerning the design of sailing boats, the design fundamentals of the external layout and internal distribution.

    AIMS AND CONTENT

    LEARNING OUTCOMES

    This course serves as an introduction to nautical product design. The aim is to provide students with all necessary tools to manage hull and superstructure shapes, proportions, internal partitioning and furnishing.

    AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

    This course will address the technical, technological and compositional characteristics typical of the sailing nautical product.

    By the end of this course, students are expected to have acquired the project awareness necessary for designers to be able to control the design of any nautical product, configuring it according to the specific requirements and expectations of the product itself.

    With support from the lectures, and through the elaboration of a design project, students will have to demonstrate their grasp of project tools such as:

    - research and analysis;
    - ideation and concept design;
    - concept development, from meta-project to project;
    - drawing elaboration and drafting;
    - sketches, technical drawings, models;
    - complete project illustration (from conception to final version) in both graphic and verbal form.

    TEACHING METHODS

    Teaching is organized in different and complementary activities, the main ones are:

    - theoretical lectures and seminars

    - educational visits

    - practical applications (ex-tempore)

    - project activity.

    SYLLABUS/CONTENT

    The theme of the year is dedicated to the theoretical and design problems related to the type of medium-small-sized cruising sailboats. The first part of the course is dedicated to the knowledge of the boat object through lectures, seminars and educational visits. The second part of the course is dedicated to the elaboration of the personal or group project through laboratory activities in the classroom with the help of revisions and corrections of the teacher.

    The specific theme of each year are defined before starting lessons and it will be promptly communicated to students on aulaweb page. Aulaweb is the main tool for communication and weekly update by professors.

    During the examination, together with the delivery of the drawings, a further oral examination of the acquired knowledge is foreseen, by discussing the presented project.

    ASSESSMENT METHODS

    The evaluation of the project consists in the verification of the graphic elaboration considering the coherence with the project's initial input, the correctness and completeness of the graphic restitution with respect to the developed theme/subject.

    The oral examination will complete the test verifying the maturity of the student, the presentation skills that distinguish the student and as well as his/her interest in the discipline.
