OVERVIEW

The course will provide the students with the basic notions of electromagnetism (module 1) and circuit theory (module 2). The teachers will describe the most important phenomena in electrostatics and magnetostatics, and the functioning of the main linear electrical components, both from an electromagnetic and a behavioral viewpoint. Linear circuits will be analyzed at steady-state (stationary, sinusoidal, periodical) and during transients.

EXAMS

EXAM DESCRIPTION

Module 1: the exam is oral and consists of two questions, for a total duration of half an hour. One of the questions will be theoretical and one will be focused on the resolution of an exercise.

Module 2: the exam is composed of a written and an oral test. With higher priority for the students that are first registered in the official University list of students of this subject, it will be possible to take two partial written examinations, one towards half-semester and one just after the end of the semester. If the overall score is sufficient, the oral test can be skipped.

See the description in the single modules for further details.

Students with learning disorders ("disturbi specifici di apprendimento", DSA) will be allowed to use specific modalities and supports that will be determined on a case-by-case basis in agreement with the delegate of the Engineering courses in the Committee for the Inclusion of Students with Disabilities.

ASSESSMENT METHODS

The theoretical questions will allow to evaluate the ability to explain the most relevant aspects of electrostatics, magnetostatics and circuit theory, and the fundamental concepts that underlie the operation of the most important electrical components. The exercises will allow to evaluate the ability to solve problems in the same contexts, by applying the conceptual tools described during the lessons and by justifying the performed choices.
