The course foresees a first module providing the students with the general knowledge to assess disaster risk with different approaches. The second module provides the students with the methodologies of human health risk assessment and ecological risk assessment of chemicals.
Module INTEGRATED RISK ASSESSMENT AND MANAGEMENT
The aim of the module is to introduce the student to the concept of risk management and provide basic tools to draw risk maps starting from any hazard map.
Module ENVIRONMENTAL RISK ASSESSMENT OF CHEMICALS
The aim of the module is to provide the student with basic principles and methods to characterize the nature and magnitude of health risks to humans and ecological risks to organisms and receptors due to chemical contaminants present in the environment, released during disasters or by Human and Industrial Activities.
Basic knowledge of Matlab programming language
Use of basic functionalities of Geographic Information Systems (e.g. QGis)
