TEACHING METHODS Lectures SYLLABUS/CONTENT Basic economic concepts Introduction to health economics: general principles and theoretical approach characteristics of "health" as a "good" Economic analysis of (national) health care services and insurance systems Information asymmetry: adverse selection and moral hazard, incomplete contracts, incentives, uncertainty and risk Methods for economic evaluation of health sector and health policies RECOMMENDED READING/BIBLIOGRAPHY The course is structured around teacher’s handouts and original papers, which will be made available by aulaweb. They will also provide feedback on the development of the student's understanding. Alternatively, students are assessed in (written) final examinations. Attendance to the course is not required and there is no difference between attending and nonattending students.
