AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

The course provides the theoretical and methodological skills necessary for the understanding of the main devices present in modern electrical power systems, with particular reference to the integration of renewable energy sources (RES)

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

At the end of the course, students will be able to:

Describe the operation of the main electrical devices
Describe a real object with a circuit model
Predict the behavior of the device starting from the circuit model that has been proposed by exploiting the theory of electrical circuits
Present an argument by defining its logical flow, starting from the hypotheses to the final results, respecting the criteria of formal correctness
Analyze realistic problems or test cases using the theoretical knowledge imparted in class

As for soft skills, students will have strengthened their ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form, developing critical thinking.

Stress management, the ability to concentrate, critical reflection with respect to a task and autonomy in decisions will be developed and trained.

The course activities will help students in managing their social interactions, in constructive communication, in the ability to respect others and their needs by providing their assessments but overcoming prejudices.

Finally, attention will be paid to increasing awareness of one's own learning strategies.

TEACHING METHODS

The training objectives will be pursued in two ways (besides classical lessons):

1) The students will be divided into groups, each of which will be assigned a test case that the group will present to the rest of the class. Furthermore, with the consent of the class, a method of feedback to each group created by the listeners will be defined. To make the feedback "objective" a "section" will be collectively defined containing the items on which the feedback will focus.

2) It is proposed to combine the frontal lessons with a significant "experiential" part in which, through the use of a general purpose software (i.e. Matlab), the students will be able to apply firsthand what they have learned during the theoretical explanations.

EXAMS

EXAM DESCRIPTION

The exam will consist of a written exercise followed by an oral discussion

ASSESSMENT METHODS

The assessment of the achievement of the training objectives will be proposed as follows:
1) The ability to present a topic will be assessed through a general question, in which students, in the face of a limited time, will have to choose what to expose and what to skip, in what order to present the concepts and at what level of detail
2) the ability to analyze a real problem and translate it into mathematical models will be tested by proposing a real case study not addressed during the lessons in which the student will have to interact with the examining teacher to arrive at the solution of the problem
