AIMS AND CONTENT

LEARNING OUTCOMES

At the end of the course, students will acquire the methodological tools and advanced skills of European-derived substantive law, knowledge and understanding of horizontal and vertical decision-making processes in the field of the internal market and the economy, will be able to understand and analyse current legal issues in European economic law, and will be able to independently develop possible solutions to open questions.

AIMS AND LEARNING OUTCOMES

Attendance and active participation will enable the student to:
(i) take up the essential features of the European Union's legal system (institutions, competences, sources, relations with domestic law);
(ii) identify the European legal sources capable of affecting the regulation of economic relations;
(iii) identify the principles underlying the European economic Constitution;
(iv) to understand how the "multilevel" regulation of these relations affects economic law, identifying the relationship between the rules aimed at affecting the same matter and the correct approach to possible antinomies;
(v) learn to critically analyse EU legal and case-law material.

TEACHING METHODS

Lectures are supplemented by the analysis of regulatory and case law material, with the aid of documentation made available on AulaWeb.
Lessons are also transmitted via Teams platform; the code to access the class is xv89lvk.

Con riguardo a ciascuno dei temi menzionati, una particolare attenzione sarà dedicata ai rapporti tra UE e Regno Unito a valle della cd. Brexit.

The exam for attending students will focus on the content of the lectures, to be integrated with the didactic material (regulatory tools and national and EU case law) made available on the AulaWeb repository.

EXAMS

EXAM DESCRIPTION

The examination is oral and consists, in principle and without prejudice to the need for further study, of three questions on different parts of the programme.
For attending students only, it is also possible to replace the oral examination with a final written examination, whose modalities will be detailed during the first lesson.

 

ASSESSMENT METHODS

The purpose of the interview is to ascertain whether the candidate has acquired an advanced knowledge of the legal system of the European Union and an in-depth knowledge of the Union's economic policies. It also tests the candidate's command of technical terminology.
